San Joaquin Student Film Festival

You made a film. Now comes the terrifying part: letting people watch it.

Every May, the San Joaquin Student Film Festival brings together K–12 and college filmmakers from San Joaquin County and every county that touches it to put student-made films on the big screen.

Submit your own short film—horror, comedy, documentary, animation, music video, experimental nonsense, whatever you’ve made. Selected films are screened at Weston Ranch High School in front of a real audience.

And that's the point. There is a particular thrill in sitting in a dark theater while 230 strangers watch something you made. They laugh at the joke. They gasp at the scary part. They go suspiciously quiet during the dramatic part. For a few minutes, the thing that lived on your laptop becomes a real experience shared by an entire room.

Make the film. Submit the film. Then find out what happens when an audience gets hold of it.
